Larry Johnson cut just short

Pro athletes can be spoiled and held to a different standard than other people.

Sometimes their actions are treated too lightly. Other times, it gets blown out of proportion.

However, sometimes it’s just right!

Larry Johnson was finally cut by the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 9th.

He was only averaging 2.7 yards a rush and has had more arrests since 2003 (three) than touchdowns this year (zero).

Johnson's mug shot after being arrested for allegedly spitting his drink in a girl's face.

Lost Job Larry…I mean Larry Johnson had numerous other instances where he was suspended because of off the field issues.  From “tweeting” slurs to degrading his coach and fans, LJ needed to go!

The best part is that he was cut by the Chiefs just 75 yards short of passing Priest Holmes for the Chiefs’ all-time rushing record.

Fans petitioned and protested to cut LJ because they did not want him to hold the top spot.

Icing on the cake!

LJ was a monster in college at Penn State. How Joe Paterno dealt with his attitude and ego, I’ll never know.

In the NFL, he had two good seasons. LJ combined for 3,539 yards on 752 carries in ’05 and ’06. The other five seasons he was either injured, battling for a spot on the field or being punished for something off the field.

Just another waste of talent and money on a professional athlete who actually thinks he’s bigger than an organization or sport.

LJ gets exactly what he deserves. Although I think it’s unlikely, I hope that no one will pick him up as an unrestricted free agent.

I applaud the fans and the Chiefs organization, and you should too.

  1. Yeah, I picked up LJ when Priest went down that one year. Is there a chance that another Chief player may have experience similar success after taking over mid-season for a Kansas City great? If that’s not enough to make someone wanna read my article I don’t know what is…

    Go take a sip.

  2. It’s like watching the Terry Schiavo case all over again: it’s so painful to watch, but at least it’s over now.

    …Too soon?

  3. J Dizzle: absolutely not too soon.

TGoble: thought I’d give the readers just another reason to read your fantasy gem.

As if they needed another one…
